Random Shoe Fact #55

Released in 2005 (Pink Box) the Nike SB Dunk Low Pro ‘Avenger’ was released with two shoes in a pack called the ‘Bankers Collection’. Oddly enough, there are two versions of both shoes, a patent leather version, and a leather version. The leather version has been ubiquitous over the years, the patent leather being more of a rarity in the market. The two dunk lows feature an all black toe box, black tongue, and check.  The striped lines along the panels represent the striped lines typically seen on the shirts of those within a bank setting like a teller, investment banker, etc.  The two shoes, one featuring blue lines and accent laces, the other featuring purple lines and accent laces were a fairly quiet release, however now go for as high as $550 in the market.

Random Shoe Fact #54

One of the most popular Jordans ever, the Jordan OG IV White/Black released in 1989 for $110.  Many will remember this original pair for its feature in the movie ‘Do the Right Thing’ when character Buggin Out had his scuffed by a bike tire.  The shoe re-released in 1999 for $100 and received the nickname ‘Cookies and Cream’ due to the speckled black within the grey.  Re-re-released on February 18th, 2012 as ‘White Cement’ with a tech-grey, the shoe is set to make another appearance to give sneakerheads another chance.  A popular trend with the newer releases, many will set out to purchase two pairs of the Retro IV’s, in case one gets scuffed.

YOO!

Random Shoe Fact #53

The Midnight release of the Jordan Retro 11 “Concords” was set to be one of the biggest releases ever.  Last released in 2000, the Concords were a deeply sought after shoe by sneakerheads.  The easy to match colorway mixed with the deep meaning was one any collector would kill for.  Jordan released the Concords when he returned to the NBA.  The shoe had never been seen until Jordan stepped onto the court.  The shoe was then released with the infamous ‘45’ on the back rather than the traditional ‘23’. The 2000 Concords sold very quickly and were sold out within two days of release, we can expect the same with the 2011 Concords.

Random Shoe Fact #52

Released first in Hong Kong August 1st 2006, the Asian exclusive Nike SB Dunk low “SBTG” was a one of a kind dunk designed by Mark Ong, a.k.a Sabotage.  The dunk was one of many shoes to be designed by the famous Mark Ong, however customs, they are not fully customized as most have been in Ong’s career. The lowtop is one of three shoes to have a lace flap (the other two being both Golf lowtops).  The lace flap features Ong’s signature skull and crossbones.  SBTG’s signature is stitched into the toe of the shoe, and is also spanning the side of the slide out box. The “SBTG” lowtop dunks are a very rare, limited pair of SB’s, one any collector would cherish.

Random Shoe Fact #51

The collaboration of Medicom and Nike SB set to be one of the greatest releases ever, passing four lowtops.  The Medicom 1, the most expensive and popular of the four, features an all white leather with blue and orange accents.  The Medicom logo is lightly stitched on the back in grey and white. If you are not familiar with the logo, it is a bears head with the @ symbol inside.  In order to obtain a pair of these ultrarares, you had to have been a member of the Medicom website.
